Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.54%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.54%, while the MDAX index climbed 2.10%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.57%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG (ETR:ADSGN), which rose 6.76% or 8.00 points to trade at 126.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) added 5.91% or 1.84 points to end at 32.99 and Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) was up 4.31% or 0.90 points to 21.78 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN), which fell 0.73% or 0.36 points to trade at 49.01 at the close. Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR:HNKG_p) added 0.30% or 0.20 points to end at 66.54 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (ETR:VOWG_p) was up 0.47% or 0.56 points to 119.78.

The top performers on the MDAX were Puma SE (ETR:PUMG) which rose 9.45% to 55.60, Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which was up 6.16% to settle at 5.86 and LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) which gained 6.11% to close at 61.14.

The worst performers were Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) which was down 0.91% to 8.90 in late trade, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (ETR:HLE) which lost 0.51% to settle at 77.30 and K&S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which was down 0.34% to 18.93 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which rose 5.41% to 23.96, ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which was up 3.74% to settle at 18.05 and Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which gained 3.46% to close at 28.14.

The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was down 1.02% to 12.59 in late trade, Vantage Towers AG (ETR:VTWRn) which gained 0.19% to settle at 32.22 and Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was up 0.55% to 29.25 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 546 to 132 and 78 ended unchanged.

Shares in Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) fell to 5-year lows; down 1.02% or 0.13 to 12.59.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 7.97% to 19.39 a new 6-months low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.02% or 0.35 to $1,825.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.69% or 2.05 to hit $78.28 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.79% or 2.23 to trade at $82.22 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP rose 0.79% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 104.00.
