France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.20%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.20%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.16%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 2.18% or 0.55 points to trade at 25.80 at the close. Meanwhile, STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STM) added 2.15% or 0.76 points to end at 36.42 and Thales (EPA:TCFP) was up 1.87% or 2.25 points to 122.75 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Stellantis NV (EPA:STLA), which fell 2.55% or 0.37 points to trade at 14.08 at the close. Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) declined 1.90% or 4.30 points to end at 221.70 and Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) was down 1.77% or 1.60 points to 89.00.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which rose 4.12% to 3.03, Derichebourg (EPA:DBG) which was up 3.92% to settle at 5.43 and Eramet SA (EPA:ERMT) which gained 3.73% to close at 83.40.

The worst performers were Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) which was down 4.62% to 26.84 in late trade, SEB SA (EPA:SEBF) which lost 3.72% to settle at 80.15 and Stellantis NV (EPA:STLA) which was down 2.55% to 14.08 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 287 to 263 and 79 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.06% or 1.15 to $1,799.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $71.98 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.57% or 0.44 to trade at $76.73 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.37% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 104.83.
