France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.41%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.41%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.44%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY), which rose 6.10% or 5.21 points to trade at 90.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) added 3.01% or 6.60 points to end at 226.00 and Legrand SA (EPA:LEGD) was up 0.43% or 0.34 points to 79.20 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Kering SA (EPA:PRTP), which fell 4.15% or 22.60 points to trade at 522.60 at the close. Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) declined 3.13% or 0.77 points to end at 23.83 and Thales (EPA:TCFP) was down 2.27% or 2.80 points to 120.50.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) which rose 6.10% to 90.60, Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) which was up 3.01% to settle at 226.00 and Quadient SA (EPA:QDT) which gained 2.91% to close at 12.36.

The worst performers were Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) which was down 15.75% to 14.37 in late trade, CGG SA (EPA:GEPH) which lost 5.68% to settle at 0.61 and Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which was down 4.30% to 14.35 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 349 to 195 and 96 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.73% or 13.05 to $1,795.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.48% or 1.84 to hit $72.41 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 2.23% or 1.77 to trade at $77.58 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.47% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.23% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.49% at 105.03.
