France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 1.59%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.59% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index added 1.59%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP), which rose 5.39% or 1.27 points to trade at 24.91 at the close. Meanwhile, EssilorLuxottica SA (EPA:ESLX) added 4.30% or 6.60 points to end at 160.05 and Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) was up 3.78% or 0.46 points to 12.68 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (EPA:RENA), which fell 2.24% or 0.74 points to trade at 32.02 at the close. Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) declined 0.92% or 12.00 points to end at 1,292.00 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was down 0.45% or 0.11 points to 23.21.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP) which rose 5.39% to 24.91, Imerys SA (EPA:IMTP) which was up 4.97% to settle at 38.00 and Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which gained 4.67% to close at 13.91.

The worst performers were Mcphy Energy (EPA:MCPHY) which was down 4.15% to 12.81 in late trade, Renault SA (EPA:RENA) which lost 2.24% to settle at 32.02 and Elis Services SA (EPA:ELIS) which was down 1.65% to 11.35 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 338 to 207 and 92 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.08% or 1.40 to $1,654.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.32% or 0.27 to hit $84.78 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.02 to trade at $91.36 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 0.99, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.38% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 111.96.
