Japan stocks lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.37%

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.37%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (TYO:9009), which rose 3.72% or 140.00 points to trade at 3,900.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (TYO:3099) added 2.99% or 32.00 points to end at 1,102.00 and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TYO:7211) was up 2.95% or 16.00 points to 559.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Inpex Corp. (TYO:1605), which fell 3.55% or 59.00 points to trade at 1,604.00 at the close. Eneos Holdings Inc (TYO:5020) declined 3.09% or 16.70 points to end at 523.60 and Unitika, Ltd. (TYO:3103) was down 2.99% or 8.00 points to 260.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2130 to 1367 and 280 ended unchanged.

Shares in Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (TYO:9009) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.72% or 140.00 to 3,900.00. Shares in Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TYO:7211) rose to 3-years highs; rising 2.95% or 16.00 to 559.00.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 6.26% to 20.08.

Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.19% or 0.17 to $91.81 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.19% or 0.19 to hit $98.03 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.16% or 2.75 to trade at $1,733.55 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.19% to 138.52, while EUR/JPY fell 0.22% to 138.66.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 108.78.
