At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.14%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were NEC Corp. (TYO:6701), which rose 5.97% or 285.00 points to trade at 5,060.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (TYO:7011) added 5.24% or 268.00 points to end at 5,383.00 and Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co., Ltd. (TYO:5232) was up 4.44% or 150.00 points to 3,530.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Credit Saison Co., Ltd. (TYO:8253), which fell 1.02% or 18.00 points to trade at 1,745.00 at the close. Hino Motors, Ltd. (TYO:7205) declined 0.95% or 6.00 points to end at 623.00 and Tokyo Tatemono Co., Ltd. (TYO:8804) was down 0.84% or 18.00 points to 2,119.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2786 to 750 and 234 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 14.42% to 21.42 a new 1-month high.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 2.25% or 2.18 to $94.83 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 2.20% or 2.26 to hit $100.67 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.27% or 4.80 to trade at $1,744.90 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.31% to 138.26, while EUR/JPY rose 0.04% to 138.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 108.46.
