: Obamas’ podcast productions leaving Spotify for Audible

After ending their deal with Spotify, the Obamas will take their podcasts to Audible.

-owned Audible on Tuesday announced a multi-year global deal with Higher Ground, the production company founded by Barack and Michelle Obama. Financial terms were not announced.

It was reported in April that the Obamas would end their exclusive relationship with Spotify

at the end of October, when their current deal expires. Spotify has distributed Higher Ground’s podcasts since 2019.

“Together, we will keep striving to tell compelling, provocative, and soulful stories — while doing everything we can to make sure they reach the folks who need to hear them,” Michelle Obama said in a statement.

Higher Ground produces podcasts such as “The Michelle Obama Podcast”; “Renegades: Born in the USA,” featuring conversations between Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen; and “The Big Hit Show,” an audio documentary series hosted by Alex Pappademas.

Higher Ground’s film and television arm has a multi-year deal with Netflix
