If you’re curious about the Mar-a-Lago lifestyle and have $2.5 million at your disposal, you’re in luck. A mansion owned by the Trump family in Palm Beach, FL, is now on the luxury lease market.
Located right across the street from Donald Trump‘s stately Florida residence, this luxe beach house is going for a hefty $208,000 per month—or just under $2.5 million per year.
For a high net worth individual who prefers to try before buying, it’s an intriguing option.
“This iconic and prestigious home on Billionaires Row offers a rare opportunity for people who want to try out the Palm Beach lifestyle,” says listing agent Margit Brandt, of Premier Estate Properties.
The Palm Beach story
There are only two other direct ocean front properties available for rent in this posh location, Brandt adds. One has “only” six bedrooms and the other comes with blackout dates, when renters must vacate the premises. This leaves the Trump-owned mansion as the only property of its size (10,000+ square feet) and location available year-round.
Maryanne Trump Barry, a retired federal appeals judge and the sister of the former president, purchased the home in 2004 for $11.5 million.
Barry listed the beachside mansion for $23.9 million in 2017, but it wound up staying in the family. An entity tied to Eric Trump purchased it for $22.9 million, according to Mansion Global.
After Eric and his brother took control, the home—originally built in 1956—went through extensive renovation and expansion.
Rent or buy?
Since 2017, it’s been on and off the rental market at rates ranging from $59,000 to its current $208,000 per month.
The home’s also flirted with buyers: It was listed in 2021 for $49 million. Curiously, the price was raised to $59 million in early 2022. It’s still listed for sale at that price, if you’d rather own the place outright.
But Brandt thinks renting might be the path forward.
“Many people want to try out the Palm Beach lifestyle first,” she says.
The home is being offered totally turnkey, with all the designer furniture, linens, and tableware already in place.
Maintenance is handled by the Mar-a-Lago club. For a renter, that means housekeeping three times a week, room service, landscaping, and pool and beach maintenance.
Location and more
The property comes with a private beach.
In addition to the eight bedrooms, there are eight full baths and three half-baths, all decorated in an elegant beach style.
The spacious family room upstairs can also serve as an office, according to Brandt.
As with almost all rentals, a background check will be conducted on prospective tenants. Pets will be allowed on a case-by-case basis.
If a tenant decides to make this place a permanent home, Brandt says lease-to-own arrangements most certainly can be made.
