France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 2.50%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 2.50%, while the SBF 120 index gained 2.34%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP), which rose 4.81% or 14.85 points to trade at 323.85 at the close. Meanwhile, TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) added 4.58% or 2.20 points to end at 50.35 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) was up 4.28% or 23.50 points to 573.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI), which fell 5.43% or 0.79 points to trade at 13.71 at the close. Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) declined 5.16% or 1.19 points to end at 21.85 and Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) was down 1.06% or 0.88 points to 82.50.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which rose 5.99% to 21.41, Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which was up 5.53% to settle at 2.71 and Accor SA (EPA:ACCP) which gained 5.27% to close at 30.57.

The worst performers were Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) which was down 5.43% to 13.71 in late trade, Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) which lost 5.16% to settle at 21.85 and Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) which was down 5.11% to 41.61 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 353 to 190 and 100 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.57% or 10.41 to $1,851.41 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 6.18% or 6.17 to hit $105.93 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 5.22% or 5.35 to trade at $107.81 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.34% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 103.86.
