With the US Open beginning on Monday, Forbes released its annual rankings of the highest-paid tennis players.
The list is headlined by some athletes who are not competing in the tennis tournament in Flushing, Queens in New York City, which has a payout of $2.5 million for each of the men’s and women’s singles champions.
While payouts for major tennis tournaments are setting records, each athlete in the top-five highest-paid tennis players made more money off the court than on it last year.
Here are the highest-paid tennis players in 2021:
5. Rafael Nadal, $27 million
Nadal has taken time away from tennis this year to heal a foot injury, causing him to miss several tournaments, including this year’s US Open.
Nadal is typically a mainstay on Forbes’s top earning athletes list with 20 Grand Slam men’s singles titles and a sponsorship portfolio that includes Nike
NKE,
Tommy Hilfiger, Kia
000270,
