If you’ve ever been mid-binge of your favorite reality TV show and thought to yourself, “Psh, I’d do so much better than that” — now’s your chance.
Netflix
NFLX,
is hosting the largest casting call for reality television ever.
The video-streaming giant launched netflixreality.com on Monday, encouraging fans to apply to be on their favorite reality shows.
“Reality TV is a powerful genre. It has the ability to make you invested in who is going to win the big competition or find true love (or at least a good showmance),” Brandon Riegg, VP of Unscripted and Documentary series at Netflix, wrote in a press release. “It also has the ability to bring people together from all walks of life. We love to hear from viewers who feel inspired and accepted after seeing themselves reflected in our shows.”
“After all,” he continued, “what is reality TV if it doesn’t represent real people?”
Netflix wants the “real” you (“no ring light, no glam,” it says) to submit a one-minute video application to be on any of the following reality TV shows:
- Nailed It!
- Queer Eye
- The Circle
- Too Hot to Handle
- Love is Blind
- Dream Home Makeover
- Floor Is Lava
- Roaring Twenties
- Get Organized with The Home Edit
- Sparking Joy with Marie Kondo
- The American Barbecue Showdown
- Indian Matchmaking
Anyone at least 18 years old and who is a resident of the U.S., Canada, the UK or Ireland can apply.
So where is this coming from?
Last month, Netflix reported its worst quarter yet for adding new subscribers. But the streaming service has seen success with its expansion into unscripted shows, as executives wrote in a letter to shareholders last month. “Standout unscripted titles include season two of dating show ‘Too Hot to Handle’ and social experiment reality program ‘The Circle’,” the letter read.
So it’s no surprise those shows have been renewed for more seasons — or that Netflix is looking for fresh faces to fill them. “Roaring Twenties” is a new series that will follow eight twenty-somethings in Austin, Texas, as they “navigate the ‘new normal’ of 2020’s America,” for example.
The video-on-demand behemoth has also confirmed that it’s making its foray into gaming, even as streaming competition from giants like Disney

and Apple
AAPL,
stiffens.
