The Jaguar F-Pace, a compact all-wheel-drive SUV made in England, sees major changes for 2021. There’s fresh styling front and rear, highlighted by a sculpted new hood, thin LED headlights, and Jaguar leaper badges on the side vents.
More substantive changes have taken place under the revised skin. The supercharged V-6 engines from last year have been replaced by a new 3.0-liter inline-6 with an electric supercharger, a twin-scroll turbocharger, and a 48-volt mild hybrid system.
In the F-Pace S 340, the straight-6 puts out 335 horsepower. In the potent new F-Pace R-Dynamic S 400, it puts out 395 horsepower. All-wheel drive is standard, as is an 8-speed automatic transmission. The P 250 and S 250 F-Pace models continue to be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with 246 horsepower.
There also is a 2021 Jaguar F-Pace SVR, powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 with 550 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, an increase of 14 lb-ft compared with last year.

Fuel economy
The 2021 Jaguar F-Pace is available in five ways for 2021: the 4-cylinder P 250 and S 250 models, plus the 6-cylinder S 340 and R-Dynamics S 400, both of which profit from a belt-driven 48-volt mild hybrid system. A potent F-Pace SVR also continues to be available in 2021.
At the entry-level, the P250 and S 250 are powered by the carry-over turbo 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, which produces 246 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 269 lb-ft of torque from a lowly 1,300 rpm to 4,500 rpm. Both AWD models have an 8-speed automatic transmission, and both have U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) fuel economy ratings of 22 miles per gallon city and 27 mpg highway.

The new inline-6 engines are quite a bit more powerful and should have an edge in overall smoothness because of their excellent inherent balance. In the F-Pace S 340, the supercharged and turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 puts out 335 horsepower @ 5,500 rpm and 354 lb-ft of torque from 1,500 rpm to 4,500 rpm. EPA fuel economy for the S 340 is 20 mpg city/27 mpg, which is nearly as good as that of the 4-cylinder because the 6-cylinder has a 48-volt mild-hybrid assist that also creates smooth automatic restarts.
The F-Pace R-Dynamic S 400, at 20 mpg city/26 mpg highway, is nearly as efficient, even though its (electric) supercharged and turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 packs a 395-horsepower punch (from 5,500 to 6,500 rpm) and a stout 406 lb-ft of torque from 2,000 to 5,000 rpm. Of note, the lithium-ion battery pack in the new 6-cylinder F-Pace models is mounted beneath the rear seat and luggage compartment.
The top Jaguar F-Pace model, the SVR, is powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 with a whopping 516 lb-ft of torque.
Standard features and options
The 2021 F-Pace is available in five trim levels – the 4-cylinder P 250 and S 250 versions, the 6-cylinder S 340 and R-Dynamics S 400, and the V8-powered SVR.
The 2021 Jaguar F-Pace S 250 has a starting price of $49,995, plus Jaguar’s destination fee of $1,025. Even though it’s the entry-level F-Pace, the turbocharged 2.0-liter S 250 comes well equipped with 19-in alloy wheels, 12-way heated front seats, the 11.4-inch infotainment screen, ambient interior lighting, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and a 14-speaker Meridian audio system with XM.
The F-Pace P 250 ($53,895) adds leather interior trim and black 19-inch alloy wheels, as well as a power tailgate, upgraded Pivi Pro infotainment, and wireless smartphone charging.
If you want an F-Pace powered by the new inline-6, you have two choices. The 2021 Jaguar F-Pace S 340 ($59,395) powered by a 335-horsepower version of that straight-6, comes with leather interior trim and the power tailgate, plus the upgraded Pivi Pro infotainment and black 19-inch alloy wheels.
The F-Pace R-Dynamic S 400 ($65,200), with 395 horsepower, maintains its spot at the top of the lineup with an R-Dynamic kit (a unique grille, body cladding, bumper inserts), plus a leather-covered steering wheel, special sill plates, aluminum engine trim, and black headliner.
The F-Pace SVR ($84,600) comes with the potent V8 powertrain, an SVR body kit, 21-inch alloy wheels, sport seats, Pivi Pro infotainment, over-the-air (OTA) software updates, wireless device charging, a full assortment of driver assists, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
Notable standard features for all 2021 F-Pace models include Active Road Noise Cancellation, automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Notable F-Pace options include a wearable activity key (that can be used to lock, unlock, and start this Jaguar SUV), a Cabin Air Ionization filter (that purifies the interior air), a head-up display (HUD), and a blacked-out exterior package.
Safety
Jaguar’s compact 5-seat SUV has a thorough standard safety suite. It’s highlighted by automatic emergency braking, which warns the F-Pace drivers of impending collisions and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision with a vehicle or a pedestrian.
The new F-Pace also has parking sensors and a system that keeps the vehicle in its lane with minor steering inputs.
Also standard: a blind-spot monitor, which helps with lane changes, and a rear cross-traffic alert, which makes backing out of blind parking spots much safer. New for 2021 is a technology that Jaguar calls Clear Exit Monitor, which warns passengers to not get out of the F-Pace if it senses traffic approaching from behind.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) hasn’t crash-tested the 2021 Jaguar F-Pace SUV.
Behind the wheel
Autotrader hasn’t driven the 2021 Jaguar F-Pace. Check back soon. We have spent some time in a 2020 model, though, and we found the F-Pace chassis to be poised and composed. This is a crossover SUV with a refined ride and the talents of a sports sedan.
