At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.18%, while the S&P 500 index fell 0.03%, and the NASDAQ Composite index gained 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Caterpillar Inc (NYSE:CAT), which rose 5.41% or 10.82 points to trade at 210.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Dow Inc (NYSE:DOW) added 4.85% or 2.79 points to end at 60.35 and Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) was up 3.94% or 8.22 points to 216.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:V), which fell 2.14% or 4.47 points to trade at 204.88 at the close. Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE) declined 1.87% or 2.71 points to end at 142.38 and Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG) was down 1.72% or 2.23 points to 127.30.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Deere & Company (NYSE:DE) which rose 10.86% to 332.85, Albemarle Corp (NYSE:ALB) which was up 9.54% to settle at 154.99 and Freeport-McMoran Copper & Gold Inc (NYSE:FCX) which gained 9.99% to close at 37.55.
The worst performers were Hologic Inc (NASDAQ:HOLX) which was down 7.70% to 75.99 in late trade, Zoetis Inc (NYSE:ZTS) which lost 4.20% to settle at 160.88 and Kraft Heinz Co (NASDAQ:KHC) which was down 3.57% to 37.57 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Energous Co (NASDAQ:WATT) which rose 93.55% to 7.200, Vaccinex Inc (NASDAQ:VCNX) which was up 73.17% to settle at 4.97 and Evolus Inc (NASDAQ:EOLS) which gained 65.22% to close at 11.83.
The worst performers were Cleveland BioLabs Inc (NASDAQ:CBLI) which was down 26.81% to 6.9900 in late trade, China SXT Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:SXTC) which lost 22.53% to settle at 0.7902 and US Well Services Inc (NASDAQ:USWS) which was down 17.78% to 2.220 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2008 to 1062 and 82 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2188 rose and 1002 declined, while 58 ended unchanged.
Shares in Deere & Company (NYSE:DE) rose to all time highs; gaining 10.86% or 32.60 to 332.85. Shares in Freeport-McMoran Copper & Gold Inc (NYSE:FCX) rose to 5-year highs; rising 9.99% or 3.41 to 37.55. Shares in Caterpillar Inc (NYSE:CAT) rose to all time highs; up 5.41% or 10.82 to 210.75. Shares in Energous Co (NASDAQ:WATT) rose to 52-week highs; rising 93.55% or 3.480 to 7.200. Shares in Evolus Inc (NASDAQ:EOLS) rose to 52-week highs; rising 65.22% or 4.67 to 11.83.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 3.60% to 21.68.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.32% or 5.75 to $1780.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.73% or 1.65 to hit $58.87 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.10% or 1.34 to trade at $62.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.25% to 1.2119, while USD/JPY fell 0.19% to 105.45.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 90.338.
