Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.91%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.91%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Nearmap Ltd (ASX:NEA), which rose 18.98% or 0.410 points to trade at 2.570 at the close. Meanwhile, Zip Co Ltd (ASX:Z1P) added 16.90% or 1.83 points to end at 12.66 and Bendigo And Adelaide Bank Ltd (ASX:BEN) was up 11.28% or 1.07 points to 10.56 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Altium Ltd (ASX:ALU), which fell 4.79% or 1.47 points to trade at 29.19 at the close. Beach Energy Ltd (ASX:BPT) declined 4.27% or 0.075 points to end at 1.680 and AGL Energy Ltd (ASX:AGL) was down 3.80% or 0.42 points to 10.63.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 821 to 581 and 325 ended unchanged.

Shares in Zip Co Ltd (ASX:Z1P) rose to all time highs; up 16.90% or 1.83 to 12.66. Shares in AGL Energy Ltd (ASX:AGL) fell to 5-year lows; falling 3.80% or 0.42 to 10.63.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 2.18% to 15.741.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.34% or 6.20 to $1817.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.03% or 1.21 to hit $60.68 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.52% or 0.95 to trade at $63.38 a barrel.

AUD/USD was up 0.27% to 0.7774, while AUD/JPY rose 0.62% to 81.78.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 90.368.
