Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.55%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.55%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.34%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.11%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which rose 4.12% or 1.330 points to trade at 33.635 at the close. Meanwhile, Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) added 2.05% or 1.250 points to end at 62.090 and Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) was up 2.06% or 1.03 points to 51.15 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were SAP SE (DE:SAPG), which fell 1.61% or 1.770 points to trade at 108.260 at the close. Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) declined 1.57% or 2.00 points to end at 125.15 and Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) was down 1.28% or 3.49 points to 268.11.

The top performers on the MDAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which rose 6.59% to 5.773, Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) which was up 6.62% to settle at 10.945 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which gained 5.19% to close at 9.640.

The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 6.10% to 56.950 in late trade, Software AG (DE:SOWGn) which lost 4.84% to settle at 34.370 and HelloFresh SE (DE:HFGG) which was down 2.79% to 71.45 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) which rose 4.12% to 33.635, Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was up 3.97% to settle at 165.100 and Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (DE:EUZG) which gained 2.45% to close at 54.400.

The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 6.10% to 56.950 in late trade, Software AG (DE:SOWGn) which lost 4.84% to settle at 34.370 and S&T AG (DE:SANT1) which was down 4.17% to 21.60 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 343 to 335 and 32 ended unchanged.

Shares in Varta AG (DE:VAR1) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.97% or 6.300 to 165.100.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.32% to 28.32 a new 1-month high.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.55% or 10.10 to $1859.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.45% or 0.24 to hit $52.61 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.31% or 0.17 to trade at $55.36 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.2125, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8833.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 90.490.
