France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.97%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.97% to hit a new 6-months high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.90%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB), which rose 6.10% or 2.44 points to trade at 42.44 at the close. Meanwhile, Renault SA (PA:RENA) added 4.20% or 1.54 points to end at 38.18 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) was up 2.95% or 3.05 points to 106.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Atos SE (PA:ATOS), which fell 13.08% or 9.84 points to trade at 65.40 at the close. Worldline SA (PA:WLN) declined 2.54% or 2.02 points to end at 77.48 and Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) was down 1.87% or 0.91 points to 47.70.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which rose 7.95% to 37.35, Compagnie Plastic Omnium SE (PA:PLOF) which was up 6.71% to settle at 29.90 and Nexans SA (PA:NEXS) which gained 6.69% to close at 67.75.

The worst performers were Atos SE (PA:ATOS) which was down 13.08% to 65.40 in late trade, Worldline SA (PA:WLN) which lost 2.54% to settle at 77.48 and Kaufman Et Broad (PA:KOF) which was down 2.32% to 37.85 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 358 to 236 and 72 ended unchanged.

Shares in Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) rose to 52-week highs; up 6.10% or 2.44 to 42.44. Shares in Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) rose to all time highs; up 7.95% or 2.75 to 37.35. Shares in Compagnie Plastic Omnium SE (PA:PLOF) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 6.71% or 1.88 to 29.90. Shares in Nexans SA (PA:NEXS) rose to 5-year highs; rising 6.69% or 4.25 to 67.75.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.30% or 5.70 to $1914.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.57% or 0.29 to hit $50.92 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.53% or 0.29 to trade at $54.59 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.52% to 1.2261, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.9051.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.44% at 89.900.
