The New Yorker, in an attempt to deliver some much-needed laughter through the tears, recently collected the cartoons that resonated most among readers on Instagram FB, +3.38% in 2020.

Touching on the thorniest of issues, including racism, politics and, of course, the coming apocalypse, the magazine’s writers used humor to reflect on the highs and lows of the tumultuous year.

“If you, like me, need a fun-filled break from the exalted state that this year has left you in,” the New Yorker’s Colin Stokes wrote, “feast your eyes on the cartoons below.”
