France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.97%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.97%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.92%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN), which rose 4.27% or 0.71 points to trade at 17.28 at the close. Meanwhile, WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) added 4.21% or 2.62 points to end at 64.88 and Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) was up 4.17% or 3.67 points to 91.61 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Sanofi SA (PA:SASY), which fell 1.08% or 0.85 points to trade at 78.11 at the close. Worldline SA (PA:WLN) declined 0.95% or 0.74 points to end at 77.16 and Kering SA (PA:PRTP) was down 0.93% or 5.20 points to 551.70.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which rose 8.37% to 33.00, Klepierre SA (PA:LOIM) which was up 4.97% to settle at 18.89 and Natixis (PA:CNAT) which gained 4.68% to close at 2.69.

The worst performers were Iliad (PA:ILD) which was down 1.59% to 166.95 in late trade, Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) which lost 1.09% to settle at 68.10 and Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) which was down 1.08% to 78.11 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 357 to 218 and 84 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 5.16% to 22.82.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.35% or 6.55 to $1876.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.19% or 1.03 to hit $48.05 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.08% or 1.04 to trade at $51.12 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.21% to 1.2187, while EUR/GBP fell 0.97% to 0.9012.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 90.252.
