Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.52%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 1.52% to hit a new 6-months high, while the MDAX index gained 0.77%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.97%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER), which rose 5.67% or 6.35 points to trade at 118.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) added 4.23% or 2.00 points to end at 49.23 and Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn) was up 3.77% or 1.485 points to 40.910 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Covestro AG (DE:1COV), which fell 1.80% or 0.920 points to trade at 50.320 at the close. Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) declined 0.96% or 1.350 points to end at 138.830 and BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) was down 0.72% or 0.470 points to 64.380.

The top performers on the MDAX were Metro Wholesale & Food Specialist AG (DE:B4B) which rose 5.81% to 8.3760, Grenke N AG (DE:GLJn) which was up 5.29% to settle at 39.80 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COP1n) which gained 3.27% to close at 75.850.

The worst performers were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was down 2.04% to 110.200 in late trade, Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which lost 1.23% to settle at 48.835 and HelloFresh SE (DE:HFGG) which was down 1.14% to 60.50 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COP1n) which rose 3.27% to 75.850, Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (DE:EUZG) which was up 2.99% to settle at 43.400 and Bechtle AG (DE:BC8G) which gained 2.85% to close at 180.300.

The worst performers were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was down 2.04% to 110.200 in late trade, New Work SE (DE:NWOn) which lost 1.48% to settle at 266.00 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 1.47% to 20.080 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 449 to 216 and 85 ended unchanged.

Shares in Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) rose to all time highs; up 5.67% or 6.35 to 118.35.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.33% to 23.95.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.12% or 2.25 to $1857.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.17% or 0.08 to hit $47.70 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.33% or 0.17 to trade at $50.93 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.17% to 1.2172, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.9018.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 90.312.
