Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell recognized President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in the November election during a floor speech Tuesday morning.
“Today I want to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden,” the Kentucky Republican said one day after the Electoral College confirmed Biden’s win. “I also want to congratulate the vice-president elect, our colleague from California, Senator Harris. Beyond our differences, all Americans can take pride that our nation has a female vice-president elect for the first time.
He said that while he hoped the presidential election would “yield a different result,” the “Electoral College has spoken.”
McConnell also praised President Donald Trump’s term in office, saying that it was “filled with major accomplishments.”
