The best performers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which rose 2.24% or 0.645 points to trade at 29.395 at the close. Meanwhile, Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) added 1.81% or 1.030 points to end at 57.800 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) was up 1.58% or 1.600 points to 102.560 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which fell 2.11% or 0.735 points to trade at 34.110 at the close. Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn) declined 1.81% or 0.730 points to end at 39.665 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) was down 1.47% or 3.10 points to 208.50.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which rose 6.53% to 12.973, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was up 3.70% to settle at 106.47 and Metro Wholesale & Food Specialist AG (DE:B4B) which gained 3.49% to close at 7.6600.
The worst performers were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was down 2.02% to 78.44 in late trade, Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which lost 1.61% to settle at 110.100 and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) which was down 1.50% to 10.008 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which rose 6.53% to 12.973, LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which was up 3.92% to settle at 23.850 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which gained 3.18% to close at 46.100.
The worst performers were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was down 1.61% to 110.100 in late trade, S&T AG (DE:SANT1) which lost 1.37% to settle at 20.10 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 0.63% to 63.400 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 422 to 234 and 40 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.26% or 4.85 to $1836.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.81% or 0.37 to hit $46.01 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.68% or 0.33 to trade at $49.04 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.01% to 1.2142, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.9015.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 90.698.
