Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 1.08%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 added 1.08%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Domino’S Pizza Enterprises Ltd (ASX:DMP), which rose 12.36% or 9.15 points to trade at 83.17 at the close. Meanwhile, Collins Foods Ltd (ASX:CKF) added 10.91% or 1.02 points to end at 10.37 and Sandfire Resources NL (ASX:SFR) was up 9.82% or 0.430 points to 4.810 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Viva Energy Group Ltd (ASX:VEA), which fell 3.10% or 0.060 points to trade at 1.875 at the close. Cooper Energy Ltd (ASX:COE) declined 2.78% or 0.010 points to end at 0.350 and Treasury Wine Estates Ltd (ASX:TWE) was down 2.21% or 0.190 points to 8.400.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 730 to 521 and 372 ended unchanged.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 8.27% to 15.179.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.61% or 10.95 to $1791.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.77% or 0.35 to hit $44.99 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.79% or 0.38 to trade at $47.50 a barrel.

AUD/USD was up 0.29% to 0.7367, while AUD/JPY rose 0.35% to 76.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 91.713.
