Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.12%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.12% to hit a new 6-months high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.47%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.27%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn), which rose 2.03% or 2.725 points to trade at 136.825 at the close. Meanwhile, Linde PLC (DE:LINI) added 1.22% or 2.600 points to end at 216.100 and Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) was up 1.12% or 1.45 points to 131.10 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which fell 2.55% or 3.90 points to trade at 148.78 at the close. Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) declined 2.08% or 1.195 points to end at 56.285 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) was down 1.96% or 1.480 points to 74.185.

The top performers on the MDAX were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which rose 4.51% to 11.595, Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was up 4.37% to settle at 107.500 and Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which gained 4.19% to close at 79.58.

The worst performers were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which was down 3.30% to 5.647 in late trade, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which lost 3.19% to settle at 7.501 and Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which was down 2.58% to 19.990 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which rose 4.51% to 11.595, S&T AG (DE:SANT1) which was up 4.48% to settle at 19.60 and Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which gained 4.37% to close at 107.500.

The worst performers were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 1.33% to 155.40 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 1.30% to settle at 18.990 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 0.59% to 2.379 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 349 to 290 and 41 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.47% to 22.00 a new 6-months low.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.16% or 2.90 to $1808.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.66% or 0.76 to hit $44.95 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.73% or 0.84 to trade at $47.69 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.1907, while EUR/GBP rose 0.38% to 0.8933.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 92.078.
