Last week, El Paso, Texas, county officials sent out a plea asking for additional morgue workers to deal with surging COVID-19 fatalities, which prompted the Texas National Guard to step up and help cope with the harsh reality of a “fatality management plan”:

Meanwhile, Sen. Ted Cruz seemed to be more worried about someone wrestling away his turkey leg:

The Texas senator was called out for his “come and take it” message, which was widely viewed as a tone-deaf salvo in the culture war dividing both sides of the political spectrum:

Cruz’s message also seemed to fly in the face of the CDC warning against traveling for Thanksgiving gatherings as coronavirus cases continue to spike.
