Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.05%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.05%, while the MDAX index declined 0.32%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.77%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Allianz SE VNA O.N. (DE:ALVG), which rose 2.17% or 4.21 points to trade at 198.23 at the close. Meanwhile, Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) added 1.06% or 1.17 points to end at 111.50 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 1.05% or 0.58 points to 55.94 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which fell 2.08% or 0.194 points to trade at 9.130 at the close. Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) declined 1.82% or 2.470 points to end at 133.530 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) was down 1.93% or 1.940 points to 98.750.

The top performers on the MDAX were Grenke N AG (DE:GLJn) which rose 8.53% to 40.46, HelloFresh SE (DE:HFGG) which was up 4.35% to settle at 43.62 and Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which gained 2.04% to close at 110.000.

The worst performers were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which was down 2.50% to 5.070 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which lost 2.36% to settle at 24.820 and Siemens Healthineers AG (DE:SHLG) which was down 2.13% to 37.77 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which rose 2.04% to 110.000, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COP1n) which was up 0.73% to settle at 75.550 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 0.23% to close at 93.960.

The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 2.38% to 17.240 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which lost 2.36% to settle at 24.820 and Siemens Healthineers AG (DE:SHLG) which was down 2.13% to 37.77 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 373 to 297 and 36 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.29% to 24.13 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.11% or 2.00 to $1885.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.70% or 0.29 to hit $41.05 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.91% or 0.40 to trade at $43.42 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.1869, while EUR/GBP fell 0.27% to 0.8955.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 92.398.
