Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 1.93%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 1.93%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Webjet Ltd (ASX:WEB), which rose 8.65% or 0.30 points to trade at 3.77 at the close. Meanwhile, Pendal Group Ltd (ASX:PDL) added 7.66% or 0.49 points to end at 6.89 and Credit Corp Group Ltd (ASX:CCP) was up 7.53% or 1.33 points to 19.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Sandfire Resources NL (ASX:SFR), which fell 6.98% or 0.310 points to trade at 4.130 at the close. Treasury Wine Estates Ltd (ASX:TWE) declined 3.14% or 0.290 points to end at 8.950 and Unibail Rodamco Westfield (ASX:URW) was down 2.38% or 0.07 points to 2.87.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 866 to 380 and 322 ended unchanged.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 2.91% to 23.784.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.16% or 3.05 to $1889.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.30% or 0.11 to hit $36.70 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.49% or 0.19 to trade at $38.78 a barrel.

AUD/USD was up 0.10% to 0.7060, while AUD/JPY fell 0.01% to 73.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 93.892.
