At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.94%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.12%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK), which rose 5.01% or 19.85 points to trade at 415.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) added 4.47% or 689.70 points to end at 16119.95 and AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) was up 4.20% or 19.85 points to 492.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which fell 3.04% or 69.05 points to trade at 2200.85 at the close. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) declined 2.70% or 90.45 points to end at 3256.00 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) was down 2.36% or 18.45 points to 763.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which rose 5.00% to 415.75, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was up 4.70% to settle at 16160.00 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which gained 4.21% to close at 204.05.
The worst performers were Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was down 1.86% to 2988.00 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 1.76% to settle at 2714.00 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.38% to 396.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 927 to 671 and 95 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1418 rose and 1138 declined, while 152 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.80% to 21.8175.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.44% or 8.35 to $1914.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.71% or 0.29 to hit $40.83 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.70% or 0.30 to trade at $42.63 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.17% to 73.320, while EUR/INR rose 0.15% to 86.2020.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 93.422.
