At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.97% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index added 1.12%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Orange SA (PA:ORAN), which rose 3.67% or 0.32 points to trade at 9.16 at the close. Meanwhile, Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) added 3.17% or 0.35 points to end at 11.39 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was up 3.16% or 0.96 points to 31.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP), which fell 1.22% or 1.65 points to trade at 133.50 at the close. Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) declined 0.97% or 0.18 points to end at 18.45 and EssilorLuxottica SA (PA:ESLX) was down 0.59% or 0.70 points to 117.80.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which rose 8.89% to 0.612, Lagardere SCA (PA:LAGA) which was up 8.21% to settle at 25.32 and Natixis (PA:CNAT) which gained 6.93% to close at 2.03.
The worst performers were Suez SA (PA:SEVI) which was down 4.17% to 15.40 in late trade, Genfit (PA:GNFT) which lost 1.96% to settle at 4.00 and BIC (PA:BICP) which was down 1.90% to 42.30 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 370 to 202 and 80 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lagardere SCA (PA:LAGA) rose to 52-week highs; rising 8.21% or 1.92 to 25.32. Shares in BIC (PA:BICP) fell to 5-year lows; falling 1.90% or 0.82 to 42.30.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.37% to 25.21.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.74% or 14.05 to $1921.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 6.88% or 2.55 to hit $39.60 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 6.19% or 2.43 to trade at $41.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.60% to 1.1786, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.9081.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.45% at 93.483.
