What's Worth Streaming: Here’s everything coming to Netflix in October 2020 — and what's leaving

This post was originally published on this site

Netflix Inc. has a slate of spooky originals coming out in October, just in time for Halloween, along with the final season the comedy that just swept the Emmys.

That would be “Schitt’s Creek,” and now TV viewers who were stunned by its Emmy haul can find out why it won, well, everything. The sixth and final season of the beloved and acclaimed sitcom, which aired previously in Canada and on Pop TV, drops Oct. 7.

Netflix NFLX, -4.18%   isn’t fooling around when it comes to Halloween, with a little something for everyone. Horror fans will be excited for “The Haunting of Bly Manor” (Oct. 9), a ghost story set in 1980s England and the latest chapter of “The Haunting” anthology; Adam Sandler fans will be stoked for “Hubie Halloween,” a comedy in which everyone’s favorite man-child has to save his town from monsters; and classic movie fans should be intrigued by the remake of Daphne du Maurier’s classic psychological thriller “Rebecca” (Oct. 21). Armie Hammer and Lily James star this time around. There’s also a slew of kid-friendly Halloween fare and a handful of more grown-up splatter-horror flicks.

Also of note in October: A new batch of episodes of “Unsolved Mysteries” (Oct. 19); the comedy/drama “Emily in Paris” (Oct. 2) from creator Darren Star; the musical docuseries “Song Exploder” (Oct. 2), based on the popular podcast; the social-distancing anthology series “Social Distance” (Oct. 15); “Grand Army” (Oct. 16), a high school drama set in Brooklyn; “The Trial of the Chicago 7” (Oct. 16), a documentary about the aftermath of the bloody 1968 Democratic convention; the return of David Letterman’s interview series “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” (Oct. 21); and the fourth season of the genial food and travel show “Somebody Feed Phil” (Oct. 30).

And a warning to “Parks and Recreation” fans: Get your fill of Leslie, Ron and the rest of the gang now, because the series is leaving Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime on Sept. 30 in favor of Peacock, where it will stream exclusively.
