Australia stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 down 0.32%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.32%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were CSR Ltd (ASX:CSR), which rose 4.82% or 0.190 points to trade at 4.130 at the close. Meanwhile, Saracen Mineral Holdings Ltd (ASX:SAR) added 4.23% or 0.22 points to end at 5.42 and South32 Ltd (ASX:S32) was up 3.70% or 0.080 points to 2.240 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Unibail Rodamco Westfield (ASX:URW), which fell 7.28% or 0.22 points to trade at 2.80 at the close. Abacus Property Group (ASX:ABP) declined 4.32% or 0.12 points to end at 2.66 and Virgin Money PLC (ASX:VUK) was down 4.08% or 0.07 points to 1.53.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 710 to 544 and 364 ended unchanged.

Shares in Unibail Rodamco Westfield (ASX:URW) fell to all time lows; losing 7.28% or 0.22 to 2.80.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 5.87% to 19.488.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.59% or 11.55 to $1961.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.81% or 0.33 to hit $41.30 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.79% or 0.34 to trade at $43.64 a barrel.

AUD/USD was up 0.10% to 0.7319, while AUD/JPY rose 0.12% to 76.67.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 92.868.
