Joe Biden condemned the violence in Kenosha, Wis., on Wednesday and expressed outrage over the police shooting of Jacob Blake, saying “What I saw in that video makes me sick.”
In a video posted on Twitter, the Democratic presidential nominee said he had spoken to Blake’s family members earlier in the day. “Once again, a black man, Jacob Blake, has been shot by the police in broad daylight with the whole world watching,” Biden said. “I told them justice must and will be done.”
“ “Needless violence won’t heal us. We need to end the violence — and peacefully come together to demand justice.” ”
“Put yourself in the shoes of every Black father and Black mother in this country and ask, ‘Is this what we want America to be? Is this the country we should be?’” Biden said.
He also called for protests to be peaceful, after three nights of violent clashes between police and protesters.

“Burning down communities is not protest, it’s needless violence — violence that endangers lives, violence that guts businesses and shutters businesses that serve the community. That’s wrong.”
Biden said the wisest words he had heard so far on the matter came from Blake’s mother, Julia Jackson.
“She looked at the damage done in her community and said this, ‘This doesn’t reflect my son or my family. So let’s unite and heal, do justice, end the violence and end systemic racism in this country. Now.’”
