The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nissan Chemical Industries, Ltd. (T:4021), which rose 3.13% or 170.0 points to trade at 5600.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (T:5233) added 2.78% or 68.0 points to end at 2514.0 and Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689) was up 2.67% or 18.0 points to 692.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fujikura Ltd. (T:5803), which fell 3.53% or 11.0 points to trade at 301.0 at the close. Konica Minolta, Inc. (T:4902) declined 2.71% or 9.0 points to end at 323.0 and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (T:9107) was down 2.67% or 30.0 points to 1093.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1814 to 1685 and 226 ended unchanged.
Shares in Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689) rose to 5-year highs; up 2.67% or 18.0 to 692.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 21.56.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.68% or 0.29 to $42.63 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.65% or 0.29 to hit $45.22 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.40% or 7.75 to trade at $1954.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.04% to 105.83, while EUR/JPY rose 0.19% to 125.01.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 93.100.
