Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 2.04%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 2.04%, while the MDAX index added 1.60%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.75%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which rose 9.20% or 7.64 points to trade at 90.68 at the close. Meanwhile, Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) added 6.03% or 3.325 points to end at 58.485 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 5.45% or 7.24 points to 140.19 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG), which fell 4.96% or 0.085 points to trade at 1.634 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) declined 1.40% or 0.470 points to end at 33.135 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was down 0.85% or 0.50 points to 57.98.

The top performers on the MDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which rose 7.03% to 24.680, Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was up 6.93% to settle at 37.210 and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) which gained 6.39% to close at 9.028.

The worst performers were Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which was down 4.82% to 28.840 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which lost 4.02% to settle at 90.750 and Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which was down 3.41% to 12.730 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which rose 7.03% to 24.680, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was up 4.57% to settle at 110.875 and Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which gained 4.03% to close at 24.800.

The worst performers were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was down 4.96% to 1.634 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which lost 4.02% to settle at 90.750 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 0.64% to 77.700 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 502 to 162 and 86 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.05% to 24.79 a new 3-months low.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 4.16% or 84.50 to $1945.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.26% or 0.11 to hit $42.05 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.16% or 0.07 to trade at $44.92 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.1762, while EUR/GBP rose 0.13% to 0.8989.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 93.493.
