Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.68%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.68%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were oOh!Media Ltd (ASX:OML), which rose 8.33% or 0.060 points to trade at 0.780 at the close. Meanwhile, Monadelphous Group Ltd (ASX:MND) added 7.68% or 0.61 points to end at 8.55 and Harvey Norman Holdings Ltd (ASX:HVN) was up 7.47% or 0.280 points to 4.030 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Resmed Inc DRC (ASX:RMD), which fell 7.41% or 2.070 points to trade at 25.880 at the close. Vicinity Centres Re Ltd (ASX:VCX) declined 3.05% or 0.040 points to end at 1.270 and Nearmap Ltd (ASX:NEA) was down 2.93% or 0.070 points to 2.320.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 785 to 465 and 329 ended unchanged.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 3.20% to 18.672.

Gold Futures for October delivery was up 0.73% or 14.95 to $2052.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.26% or 0.11 to hit $42.30 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.51% or 0.23 to trade at $45.40 a barrel.

AUD/USD was up 0.04% to 0.7194, while AUD/JPY unchanged 0.00% to 75.92.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 92.718.
