Japan stocks lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.26%

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.26%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Suzuki Motor Corp. (T:7269), which rose 5.45% or 186.0 points to trade at 3597.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Nomura Holdings Inc (T:8604) added 4.50% or 21.6 points to end at 501.4 and Tosoh Corp. (T:4042) was up 2.41% or 35.0 points to 1488.0 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (T:3099), which fell 10.18% or 57.0 points to trade at 503.0 at the close. Odakyu Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (T:9007) declined 8.44% or 214.0 points to end at 2323.0 and Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (T:9531) was down 7.85% or 192.0 points to 2253.0.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2182 to 1311 and 177 ended unchanged.

Shares in Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (T:3099) fell to all time lows; falling 10.18% or 57.0 to 503.0.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 23.70.

Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.14% or 0.47 to $40.80 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.91% or 0.40 to hit $43.69 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.62% or 12.15 to trade at $1941.25 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.13% to 105.05, while EUR/JPY fell 0.16% to 123.49.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 93.498.
