France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.61%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.61%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.56%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP), which rose 6.53% or 6.85 points to trade at 111.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Kering SA (PA:PRTP) added 3.97% or 19.20 points to end at 502.40 and Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN) was up 2.93% or 2.92 points to 102.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which fell 3.31% or 0.82 points to trade at 23.98 at the close. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) declined 3.05% or 0.47 points to end at 14.80 and Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) was down 2.67% or 0.38 points to 13.88.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Maisons du Monde SAS (PA:MDM) which rose 13.31% to 13.28, Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) which was up 12.33% to settle at 132.10 and Spie SA (PA:SPIE) which gained 12.03% to close at 14.90.

The worst performers were Akka Technologies (PA:AKA) which was down 14.26% to 16.60 in late trade, CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which lost 8.76% to settle at 0.800 and Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 6.77% to 4.19 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 293 to 280 and 83 ended unchanged.

Shares in Akka Technologies (PA:AKA) fell to 5-year lows; down 14.26% or 2.76 to 16.60. Shares in CGG SA (PA:GEPH) fell to all time lows; falling 8.76% or 0.077 to 0.800. Shares in Genfit (PA:GNFT) fell to 5-year lows; falling 6.77% or 0.30 to 4.19.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.30% to 23.99.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.43% or 8.45 to $1953.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.51% or 0.21 to hit $41.25 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.85% or 0.37 to trade at $43.98 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.1774, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.9075.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 93.368.
