The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were NRW Holdings Ltd (ASX:NWH), which rose 8.63% or 0.14 points to trade at 1.82 at the close. Meanwhile, Coca-Cola Amatil Ltd (ASX:CCL) added 5.41% or 0.460 points to end at 8.970 and Webjet Ltd (ASX:WEB) was up 5.30% or 0.16 points to 3.18 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nearmap Ltd (ASX:NEA), which fell 3.61% or 0.090 points to trade at 2.400 at the close. Magellan Financial Group Ltd (ASX:MFG) declined 2.90% or 1.81 points to end at 60.54 and TPG Telecom Ltd (ASX:TPG) was down 2.42% or 0.190 points to 7.660.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 707 to 491 and 389 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 3.46% to 18.591.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.53% or 9.85 to $1874.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.45% or 0.19 to hit $42.09 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.43% or 0.19 to trade at $44.48 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.19% to 0.7151, while AUD/JPY rose 0.18% to 76.61.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 94.810.
