The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Nearmap Ltd (ASX:NEA), which rose 11.16% or 0.250 points to trade at 2.490 at the close. Meanwhile, Mesoblast Ltd (ASX:MSB) added 10.45% or 0.350 points to end at 3.700 and Corporate Travel Managment Ltd (ASX:CTD) was up 9.85% or 0.84 points to 9.37 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were TPG Telecom Ltd (ASX:TPG), which fell 2.47% or 0.200 points to trade at 7.890 at the close. Alumina Ltd (ASX:AWC) declined 1.96% or 0.035 points to end at 1.750 and Challenger Ltd (ASX:CGF) was down 1.58% or 0.070 points to 4.370.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 902 to 356 and 310 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 1.76% to 18.442.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.28% or 5.00 to $1822.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.42% or 0.17 to hit $41.09 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.55% or 0.24 to trade at $43.52 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.38% to 0.7039, while AUD/JPY rose 0.43% to 75.53.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 95.710.
