Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.35%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.35%, while the MDAX index fell 0.47%, and the TecDAX index added 0.40%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn), which rose 4.50% or 1.695 points to trade at 39.380 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) added 2.51% or 1.870 points to end at 76.510 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 2.19% or 3.11 points to 144.84 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG), which fell 5.66% or 0.119 points to trade at 1.976 at the close. MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) declined 1.43% or 2.25 points to end at 154.60 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was down 0.81% or 0.071 points to 8.748.

The top performers on the MDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which rose 3.42% to 121.625, TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which was up 2.29% to settle at 48.72 and Knorr-Bremse AG (DE:KBX) which gained 2.00% to close at 102.78.

The worst performers were HelloFresh SE (DE:HFGG) which was down 5.59% to 45.22 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which lost 2.78% to settle at 329.200 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which was down 2.69% to 7.016 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which rose 3.42% to 121.625, TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which was up 2.29% to settle at 48.72 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) which gained 1.87% to close at 22.300.

The worst performers were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was down 5.66% to 1.976 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which lost 2.78% to settle at 329.200 and Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was down 1.83% to 96.700 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 336 to 329 and 70 ended unchanged.

Shares in Knorr-Bremse AG (DE:KBX) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.00% or 2.02 to 102.78.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.30% to 27.18 a new 3-months low.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.55% or 9.90 to $1810.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.25% or 0.10 to hit $40.65 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.46% or 0.20 to trade at $43.17 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.1441, while EUR/GBP rose 0.45% to 0.9110.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.44% at 95.895.
