The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (T:7201), which rose 6.07% or 25.4 points to trade at 444.0 at the close. Meanwhile, ANA Holdings Inc (T:9202) added 5.15% or 126.0 points to end at 2571.0 and Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (T:5801) was up 4.87% or 128.0 points to 2756.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689), which fell 4.48% or 24.0 points to trade at 512.0 at the close. Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (T:4519) declined 4.28% or 232.0 points to end at 5192.0 and Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735) was down 4.17% or 230.0 points to 5290.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2257 to 1252 and 164 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 23.11.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.80% or 0.33 to $40.87 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.46% or 0.20 to hit $43.59 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.28% or 5.15 to trade at $1808.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.06% to 106.98, while EUR/JPY fell 0.00% to 121.97.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 96.108.
