Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.80%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.80%, while the MDAX index lost 1.09%, and the TecDAX index declined 2.32%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG), which rose 3.05% or 1.530 points to trade at 51.740 at the close. Meanwhile, Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) added 1.06% or 2.45 points to end at 234.30 and Allianz SE VNA O.N. (DE:ALVG) was up 0.51% or 0.94 points to 186.14 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which fell 5.03% or 1.165 points to trade at 22.010 at the close. Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) declined 3.47% or 8.40 points to end at 234.00 and Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) was down 3.25% or 5.450 points to 162.380.

The top performers on the MDAX were Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which rose 6.46% to 66.92, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was up 3.25% to settle at 6.236 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which gained 3.13% to close at 23.080.

The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 6.25% to 59.950 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 4.49% to settle at 89.300 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 4.43% to 111.575 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which rose 1.92% to 2.545, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was up 1.39% to settle at 24.140 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which gained 1.01% to close at 14.520.

The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 6.25% to 59.950 in late trade, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) which lost 5.03% to settle at 22.010 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 4.49% to 89.300 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 448 to 216 and 74 ended unchanged.

Shares in Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) rose to 52-week highs; rising 6.46% or 4.06 to 66.92.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 5.25% to 31.07.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.11% or 2.05 to $1812.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.22% or 0.09 to hit $40.19 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.26% or 0.11 to trade at $42.83 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.55% to 1.1402, while EUR/GBP rose 0.61% to 0.9084.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 96.177.
