France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 1.21%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.21%, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.27%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP), which rose 2.41% or 2.45 points to trade at 104.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Kering SA (PA:PRTP) added 1.32% or 6.50 points to end at 498.40 and Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) was up 1.19% or 1.85 points to 157.40 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which fell 4.26% or 0.48 points to trade at 10.80 at the close. Thales (PA:TCFP) declined 4.02% or 2.96 points to end at 70.74 and Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) was down 3.96% or 2.61 points to 63.22.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Albioma SA (PA:ABIO) which rose 3.01% to 39.35, Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) which was up 2.41% to settle at 104.25 and Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) which gained 2.05% to close at 114.30.

The worst performers were TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which was down 5.82% to 6.15 in late trade, Biomerieux SA (PA:BIOX) which lost 4.62% to settle at 127.90 and DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which was down 4.43% to 7.55 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 388 to 174 and 95 ended unchanged.

Shares in Albioma SA (PA:ABIO) rose to 5-year highs; up 3.01% or 1.15 to 39.35.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 2.34% to 28.50.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.88% or 16.10 to $1804.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.64% or 1.08 to hit $39.82 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.94% or 0.84 to trade at $42.45 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.1290, while EUR/GBP fell 0.32% to 0.8952.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 96.725.
