France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.84%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.84%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.75%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were EssilorLuxottica SA (PA:ESLX), which rose 1.15% or 1.35 points to trade at 118.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) added 0.93% or 2.10 points to end at 228.50 and STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) was up 0.92% or 0.22 points to 24.23 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP), which fell 2.39% or 7.10 points to trade at 289.60 at the close. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) declined 2.29% or 0.34 points to end at 14.29 and Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) was down 2.13% or 0.29 points to 13.56.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Neoen SA (PA:NEOEN) which rose 6.65% to 39.30, Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which was up 5.63% to settle at 8.93 and Coface (PA:COFA) which gained 3.18% to close at 6.17.

The worst performers were Alten SA (PA:LTEN) which was down 4.56% to 70.15 in late trade, Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (PA:CASP) which lost 4.55% to settle at 31.71 and Faurecia (PA:EPED) which was down 3.22% to 33.64 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 353 to 214 and 90 ended unchanged.

Shares in Neoen SA (PA:NEOEN) rose to all time highs; up 6.65% or 2.45 to 39.30.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.78% to 26.73.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.13% or 2.40 to $1787.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.91% or 0.37 to hit $40.28 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.72% or 0.31 to trade at $42.83 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.1242, while EUR/GBP rose 0.04% to 0.9017.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 97.175.
