Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX down 0.41%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.41%, while the MDAX index added 0.93%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.30%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG), which rose 1.10% or 0.840 points to trade at 77.360 at the close. Meanwhile, Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) added 0.99% or 1.000 points to end at 102.350 and Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) was up 0.61% or 0.63 points to 104.05 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG), which fell 16.23% or 0.930 points to trade at 4.800 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) declined 3.72% or 3.26 points to end at 84.26 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was down 2.57% or 1.40 points to 53.18.

The top performers on the MDAX were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) which rose 6.35% to 96.74, Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was up 4.80% to settle at 104.700 and Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXIG) which gained 3.05% to close at 84.600.

The worst performers were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which was down 3.29% to 6.106 in late trade, Metro Wholesale & Food Specialist AG (DE:B4B) which lost 2.73% to settle at 8.1860 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 2.65% to 39.715 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which rose 4.80% to 104.700, S&T AG (DE:SANT1) which was up 3.86% to settle at 23.68 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COP1n) which gained 3.00% to close at 72.150.

The worst performers were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was down 16.23% to 4.800 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which lost 2.65% to settle at 39.715 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 2.14% to 88.840 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 348 to 317 and 70 ended unchanged.

Shares in Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) rose to all time highs; rising 6.35% or 5.78 to 96.74. Shares in Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXIG) rose to all time highs; rising 3.05% or 2.500 to 84.600.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.79% to 32.96.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.12% or 20.15 to $1780.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.35% or 0.53 to hit $39.80 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.87% or 0.77 to trade at $42.04 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.26% to 1.1260, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.9024.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 97.070.
