France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.42%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.42%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.25%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Danone SA (PA:DANO), which rose 3.40% or 2.16 points to trade at 65.68 at the close. Meanwhile, Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) added 1.95% or 1.80 points to end at 94.12 and Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) was up 1.83% or 2.75 points to 153.20 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Worldline SA (PA:WLN), which fell 2.73% or 1.98 points to trade at 70.62 at the close. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) declined 2.30% or 0.32 points to end at 13.36 and Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) was down 2.06% or 0.17 points to 8.07.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Europcar Groupe SA (PA:EUCAR) which rose 6.66% to 2.50, Euronext (PA:ENX) which was up 5.11% to settle at 87.50 and Remy Cointreau (PA:RCOP) which gained 4.48% to close at 126.00.

The worst performers were CNP Assurances SA (PA:CNPP) which was down 9.00% to 9.55 in late trade, Quadient SA (PA:QDT) which lost 8.23% to settle at 12.27 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which was down 6.03% to 21.52 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 313 to 256 and 92 ended unchanged.

Shares in Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 1.95% or 1.80 to 94.12.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 7.07% to 30.57.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.30% or 22.50 to $1753.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.34% or 0.52 to hit $39.36 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.06% or 0.44 to trade at $41.95 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.1193, while EUR/GBP rose 0.39% to 0.9049.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 97.520.
