France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.49%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.49%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.38%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Atos SE (PA:ATOS), which rose 4.37% or 3.04 points to trade at 72.56 at the close. Meanwhile, Safran SA (PA:SAF) added 2.29% or 2.06 points to end at 91.90 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) was up 2.07% or 0.62 points to 30.53 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Sodexo SA (PA:EXHO), which fell 2.56% or 1.64 points to trade at 62.36 at the close. Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) declined 2.42% or 0.36 points to end at 14.41 and Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) was down 2.26% or 3.25 points to 140.40.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Europcar Groupe SA (PA:EUCAR) which rose 4.66% to 2.11, Atos SE (PA:ATOS) which was up 4.37% to settle at 72.56 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which gained 3.95% to close at 22.87.

The worst performers were Verallia (PA:VRLA) which was down 7.22% to 24.40 in late trade, SES (PA:SESFd) which lost 6.30% to settle at 6.37 and Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which was down 3.96% to 32.49 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 324 to 253 and 87 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 7.18% to 35.65.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.55% or 9.50 to $1727.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.21% or 0.44 to hit $36.70 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.83% or 0.71 to trade at $39.44 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.28% to 1.1286, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.8983.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.50% at 96.847.
