He should have stayed in bed.
Donald Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani, in the middle of the night, state-side, agreed to go on ITV’s Good Morning Britain for what turned out to be quite the spectacle.
Maybe we all should have stayed in bed.
The descent into madness began when Piers Morgan, who says he’s known the president for 13 years, brought up Trump’s “when the looting starts, the shooting starts” tweet.
Morgan said it was Trump’s job to ease tensions and not throw “fuel on the fire” by using an incendiary quote from Miami police chief Walter Headley decades ago.
Giuliani, a tireless defender for his boss, said Trump “doesn’t have a racist bone in his body” and accused Morgan of being part of the “warped” left-wing media agenda.
“ ‘You sound completely barking mad… you have lost the plot, and it’s sad to see.’ ”
From there, it just got more personal.
“What happened to you?” Morgan said. “You used to be one of the most respected and revered people in America… You sound completely barking mad… you have lost the plot, and it’s sad to see.”
Giuliani then went after Morgan for his doomed CNN show in 2014.
“You were the one who got thrown off of television here… so don’t tell me I’ve lost anything,” he fired back. “I know what happened to your show, Piers, and I remember the mistakes you made… Everyone in America knows you are a failed journalist.”
Watch the full interview. Or, better yet, don’t:
Any thoughts on the interview, Piers?
