Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.00%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.00% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index gained 1.44%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.60%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 8.75% or 0.604 points to trade at 7.504 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) added 6.83% or 0.590 points to end at 9.230 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) was up 6.71% or 5.53 points to 87.95 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG), which fell 2.64% or 2.030 points to trade at 74.760 at the close. Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) declined 2.34% or 2.48 points to end at 103.60 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was down 1.88% or 0.825 points to 43.070.

The top performers on the MDAX were Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which rose 11.20% to 46.560, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was up 9.19% to settle at 36.82 and Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which gained 8.03% to close at 6.19.

The worst performers were Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which was down 4.95% to 20.720 in late trade, LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which lost 3.35% to settle at 107.760 and Grand City Properties SA (DE:GYC) which was down 2.50% to 19.91 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 6.11% to 90.360, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) which was up 4.01% to settle at 20.235 and Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which gained 3.10% to close at 96.500.

The worst performers were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 3.46% to 25.700 in late trade, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which lost 2.03% to settle at 72.500 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 1.89% to 90.850 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 424 to 266 and 51 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.57% to 30.76.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.78% or 30.95 to $1704.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.56% or 0.85 to hit $34.10 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.07% or 0.38 to trade at $35.91 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.69% to 1.0974, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.8898.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.82% at 99.073.
