France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 1.65%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 1.65% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.77%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which rose 2.21% or 0.96 points to trade at 44.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) added 1.90% or 0.45 points to end at 24.14 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 1.27% or 0.10 points to 7.59 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP), which fell 5.23% or 0.63 points to trade at 11.42 at the close. Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) declined 4.62% or 1.20 points to end at 24.75 and Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) was down 3.93% or 3.34 points to 81.66.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were SES (PA:SESFd) which rose 3.05% to 6.02, SEB SA (PA:SEBF) which was up 2.71% to settle at 106.00 and Euronext (PA:ENX) which gained 2.63% to close at 84.00.

The worst performers were DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which was down 10.05% to 9.18 in late trade, Genfit (PA:GNFT) which lost 10.03% to settle at 5.96 and Quadient SA (PA:QDT) which was down 7.17% to 11.40 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 439 to 147 and 60 ended unchanged.

Shares in Genfit (PA:GNFT) fell to 5-year lows; down 10.03% or 0.67 to 5.96.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 11.97% to 34.68.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.45% or 24.90 to $1741.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 6.48% or 1.64 to hit $26.93 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 5.89% or 1.72 to trade at $30.91 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.30% to 1.0783, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8841.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 100.495.
