France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 1.07%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.07%, while the SBF 120 index added 1.25%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB), which rose 4.44% or 1.08 points to trade at 25.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) added 3.90% or 2.88 points to end at 76.80 and Legrand SA (PA:LEGD) was up 3.88% or 2.24 points to 59.90 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Sanofi SA (PA:SASY), which fell 1.30% or 1.18 points to trade at 89.57 at the close. Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) declined 0.71% or 0.64 points to end at 88.96 and AXA SA (PA:AXAF) was down 0.42% or 0.07 points to 16.23.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were SES (PA:SESFd) which rose 8.37% to 6.14, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which was up 6.40% to settle at 236.00 and Eiffage SA (PA:FOUG) which gained 5.95% to close at 77.64.

The worst performers were Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) which was down 2.09% to 103.10 in late trade, Eutelsat Communications SA (PA:ETL) which lost 2.06% to settle at 9.23 and Gecina SA (PA:GFCP) which was down 1.49% to 112.40 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 387 to 176 and 88 ended unchanged.

Shares in Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) rose to all time highs; gaining 6.40% or 14.20 to 236.00.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 0.90% to 30.76.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.65% or 11.20 to $1714.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.53% or 0.36 to hit $23.91 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.85% or 0.84 to trade at $30.30 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.0845, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.8730.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 99.720.
